ARTIST OF THE MONTH FEATURE : JANET JACKSON DISCOGRAPHY
ALBUM - CONTROL (1986)
Control is still to me one of Janet's best albums ever released, producing 6 major hits in the Billboard charts, where 5 landed in the Top 5. Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis were the ones responsible in kicking Janet's career off to a huge start with this album. When I Think Of You was Janet's first ever number 1 hit in the Billboard's Hot 100.
Janet definitely carved an impactful place in the music scene with her trend-setting dance music, awesome choreography and bold & dark image. Everyone still remembers Janet for many of the songs from this album until today, like What have You Done For Me Lately, Control, Nasty and the beautiful ballad Let's Wait A While (one of my personal all-time favourite).
Control earned Janet multi-nominations at the awards, 3 each at the Grammy and MTV Music Video Awards, 6 at the Billboard Music Awards and 12 at the American Music Awards where she won 4 of them (as listed at Wikipedia)

ALBUM - RHYTHM NATION 1814 (1989)
Rhythm Nation was released three years after the success of the album Control, and it went even bigger for Miss Jackson. With this album, Janet has been put on the same level with her brother MICHAEL JACKSON. The two has been constantly telling the public that they both enjoy a healthy competition in music, and were totally happy for each other's success. Besides creating more creative dance-beats and funky tunes, Rhythm Nation also carried a strong socially-conscious message behind the lyrics. Janet started playing a role in being a positive influence to the younger generation and received all-nods from everyone.
Rhythm Nation pushed Janet to the peak of her singing career, winning her the first Grammy, 4 number 1's at the Billboard Hot 100 (Miss You Much, Escapade, Black Cat & Love Will Never Do), 15 Billboard Music Awards, 5 American Music Awards and 3 MTV Music Video Awards (as listed at Wikipedia).
